THIS MIGHT BE FOR YOU…

Are you a storyteller or artist? Do you believe your art can make a difference in the world?

Yes? Then this might be for you.

Here’s what I’m doing here...

WHAT IS THIS ABOUT?

“Scenius not Genius”

This project exists to support a broader community of creators who care. This is not about me, this is about us. This is about what we are trying to do. The times we find ourselves in are bigger than all of us.

We are Engaged Creators

This is for people who believe ideas can change the world. Culture matters. Artists create culture. The people who turn up here are on the same journey you are. Each of you have projects of your own. You want them to matter. You are trying to figure this out.

We are Here to Think, Discover, and Create

The meta-crisis. The Anthropocene. An age of ecological crisis. Whatever you want to call our moment in history, the task falls upon us to understand these times, and to shape our future. We are going to think this stuff through.

I Am One Guide To One Part Your Journey

A lot of creators out there are struggling hard - and it shows. Even big budget professionals are falling flat on their face when they try to tackle stuff like climate change.

Understanding our world takes considerable insight into some extraordinarily complex subjects. We live in an age of ecological crisis. I am qualified as an ecologist. I’ve even done a little scientific research on climate change. I am on my own journey of figuring this out - this is something I’ll be doing anyway. Here we will be going through the complexity, stripping nightmares down into a form that is relevant to both of us a creators.

This Doesn’t Have to be Hard, Overwhelming, or Depressing.

Yes, we will be discussing things like “The Apocalypse” and “The Collapse of Civilization” (and where those concepts come from). That gets bleak.

We can have some fun too.

Dark subjects don’t have to leave you in a depression-coma. Nothing dispels shadows like clarity. If this is for you, then let’s do this.

WHAT TO DO

Option 1: Go Start Reading

If you don’t want to clog up your inbox, then you don’t have to. Just go read stuff!

Option 2: Subscribe for Free

  • New articles will be sent to your inbox.

  • You’ll need to subscribe if you want to post comments.

Option 3: Pledge a Paid Subscription

  • Currently everything is free.

  • If and when this project gets large enough to justify paid subscriptions, I’ll look into that. Any paywall will likely be around keeping community only spaces, sensitive subjects, or “behind the scenes” content shielded from the open internet.

  • Substack has a “pledge a subscription” option. If you value this work, using a pledge lets me know when its worth setting up real payment options (maybe one day this project will move off substack. Who knows. For now pledges are just a useful barometer to me, if you want to do that).

SUPPORT THE PROJECT

Right now that’s the best thing you can do. If you think someone might benefit from this, then help them discover it.

COMMUNITY

You’ll need to subscribe to post comments. You’ll discover that other subscribers include published authors and the like. That’s who you’ll be talking to.

Things are small at the moment, but it’s slowly growing.

WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW?

WHAT NOW?

Does this sound like you? Then dive in!

Maybe drop a comment and say, “Hi!”
